SALISBURY, North Carolina — A Rowan County man who was charged with the murder of a 25-year-old woman has now been charged with the murder of the victim’s unborn child.
The shooting happened around 2 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Long Street on June 24.
Witt Darnell Alexander Jr. is accused of attempting to force his way inside the home of Mirah Turner, officials say.
The victim attempted to close the door to the house as the suspect fired multiple shots striking Turner, a report stated.
According to investigators, the victim and suspect did not know each other.
Turner was pronounced dead on the scene.
Alexander is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center under no bond.
