RALEIGH, North Carolina — A gun attack on a man on South Tarboro Street on Tuesday night became a homicide investigation Thursday after the man died from his wounds in the hospital, police said.
He died at WakeMed Hospital, police said. James Dermont Rowland was 48 years old.
Police said they found Rowland in a house in the 200 block of South Tarboro Street.
A man had called 911 shortly before 7 p.m. and said he found the man bleeding, later identified as Rowland.
“I just walked in. He is on the floor. He is bleeding and stuff like that,” the caller told an operator.
The caller has nothing to do with the victim.
He reported that the man was bleeding from his head, adding that it looked like he hit his head on something.
“He is breathing, but I don’t know what happened to him,” the caller said as the medics and firefighters were on their way to the house.
