Raleigh, North Carolina – The worst fear of a mother is that someone accosts and robs you while your kid is around. That fear was realized for one woman this week. A 30-year-old Raleigh man robbed a woman in her car by pointing a gun at her a month ago.

He also hit her 8-year-old son on the head with his gun.

This is according to arrest warrants.

Man Robs Woman at a Raleigh Gas Station

The Raleigh man who got arrested is identified as Percy Jamel Richardson. Police believe him to live on Rock Quarry Road, on East Whitaker Mill Road near Atlantic Avenue.

The incident happened in the parking lot of a BP gas station and convenience store at 1942 Wake Forest Road on October 26, according to the charges and police reports.

30-year-old Raleigh man threatened a woman with his semiautomatic pistol and took $350 from her, as an armed robbery charge says.

Richardson also charged with misdemeanor assault on a child under 12. He hit the boy by striking him on the head with a firearm. This traumatic experience is all the worse for his mother. She was there but could not stop Richardson from assaulting her son.

Richardson is charged also with the felony of intentionally entering a car to commit a crime.

Police spokeswoman Laura Hourigan said officers did not mention why the boy was hit. The third charge made for Richardson is for having a gun because he had a felony record prior to the incident.
